FREDDIE CHAVEZ Freddie is a native of Albuquerque, NM, and has more than four decades of experience in the entertainment and recording industry. Past performances include concerts with Blood, Sweat & Tears, Fats Domino, The Platters, Freddy Fender, El Chicano, Jimmy Edwards, The Commodores, Ruben Ramos, Tierra & Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels.. He
has performed throughout the Southwest, as well as Las
Vegas, Lake Tahoe, and Reno.
Freddie currently
performs at a variety of nightclubs and casinos and
various functions in New Mexico, both as a solo act and with his band
"The Freddie Chavez Foundation", which includes his brother, James
Chavez on congas & vocals, his long time friends Ray "Frito Bandito"
Esquivel on ax, flute &
vocals, and Sal Garcia, formerly of Sidro's Armada of Las Vegas, NV, on sax, flute,
trumpet, accordion & timbales, His repertoire, which consists of
over five hundred songs, covers a wide spectrum of music
from the early 50’s through today's current
Rock, Soul, Rhythm and Blues, Spanish, Country, and
Contemporary Jazz.
Original Compositions include:
1. "Can You Hear Me", composed for the independent film "Homeless" which is now in post production.
2. "Lack of Love", "Please Don"t Go", "Baby I'm Sorry", and the underground hit in England, "They'll Never Know Why", which is still being played on many of England's oldies radio stations.
3. "One Moving Man" recorded by David Nunez of Albuquerque on his CD "Uprising".
4. "Los Soldados de Nuevo Mexico" featured on the Freddie Chavez "Christmas" CD.
5. Eight original compositions, two of which were collaborated on with Arthur Fuentes "Su Modo De Amar" & "Corazon Fallece En Paz", one with Kenny Riley "Yo Te Esperare/I"ll Wait For You". All can be found on Freddie's "South Broadway" CD.
